The measuring device has a base element (1) on which two balance scales (10,11) are mounted. A vertical column (20) extends upwards from the base and supports an adjuster combination (2) which can position single points or areas of the body. Fixing elements (21-23) can slide vertically on the column. The first fixing element (21) holds the hips and the second element (23,) supports the upper body. A stop (13) is provided for the heels on the base element. The third fixing element (22) is provided for the knees and a side stop is provided on the base frame for the side of the foot. The vertical column forms a positional axis for defining a centre line of the body of the patient.
