The protection device comprises a mast, a running carriage with a frame enclosing the mast and first and second vertical sides turned away from each other. A first platform (15) is rigidly connected with the frame on its first side (A). A second platform (16) is rigidly connected with the frame on its other side (B). A first indicator (17) is arranged on the second side and reacts to a load supported by the first platform. A second indicator (18) on the first side reacts to a load supported by the second platform. The indicators are connected to an alarm system. Each indicator reacts to length alterations caused by tractive and pressure forces in a vertical beam-shaped construction component in the second and first sides.
