According to the present invention there is provided an imaging element comprising on a support having a hydrophilic surface a photosensitive layer having sensitivity for light in the wavelength from 300 to 450 nm and a thermosensitive layer comprising a masking dye having an absorption peak in the wavelength range from 300 to 450 nm rendering said thermosensitive layer opaque to light for which said photosensitive layer has spectral sensitivity and said imaging element further comprising a compound A capable of converting light into heat being comprised in said thermosensitive layer or a layer adjacent thereto characterised in that said masking dye is capable of being ablated upon exposure with laser light to which compound A has absorption.
