The surgical instrument (1) has a catheter (2) inserted in the body, fitted with a surgical tool (3) and a monitor (4,5,6) for detecting the position variations of the surgical tool, to prevent operation of the surgical tool when the detected position variation exceeds a threshold value. The monitor uses a complementary emitter and detector device (4,5) and an analyzer (6) coupled to the detector (5) for analysis of the frequency variations between emitted amplitude modulated signal and the received amplitude modulated signal. |
