<p>A method of generating data for designing a die structure, said die structure comprising a product shape forming section 5 and a peripheral structure section which substantially surrounds and supports said product shape forming section, with a computer-aided design/computeraided manufacturing system, comprises the steps of: generating reference structure section data representing the positional relationships between a plurality of feature points Pl-Pn as reference points on a product shape forming section of a reference die structure and a predetermined location (eg 4r) on a peripheral structure section of said reference die structure; and replacing coordinates of said reference points in said reference structure section data (eg Cpa', CPb')with coordinates of feature points in new product shape data (eg CPA, CPb) which correspond respectively to said feature points on said reference product shape forming section, and establishing said reference structure section data, after said coordinates of said reference points therein have been replaced, as new structure section data when said new structure section data corresponding to new product shape data is to be generated.</p> |
