PURPOSE:To enhance reliability and to provide the compact connector by embedding an optical filter in a connector ferrule or in an optical fiber near the same. CONSTITUTION:While the terminal of an optical fiber 11 is held to the connector ferrule 12, a slit 12d of a prescribed width is inscribed in the position of a cylindrical part 12a where a bare optical fiber part 11a is inserted. This slit 12d inclines at a suitable angle with the optical axis of the optical fiber 11 and is so formed as to cut the bare optical fiber part 11a. A filter chip 14 is inserted into the slit 12d and is fixed by an optical adhesive agent to the cylindrical part 12a. The filter chip 14 is formed by vapor deposition forming multilayered dielectric film filters 14b on one side face of a transparent glass substrate 14a. The need for a large-scale device for a signal transmitting/ receiving device is eliminated in this way and the connector which is stable, highly reliable and compact and has excellent handling workability is obtd. |
