PURPOSE:To eliminate continued operation of wasteful copying in the event of jam occurrence by interrupting the exposing scan motion for the preceding sheet of document on the copying machine body side when any failure is sensed for the transport of the next sheet of document, performing abnormality display according to the sensing signal thus given, and also making display of a message about returning both the preceding and next sheets to a document placing table. CONSTITUTION:If a next sheet of document is fed while the preceding sheet of document has stopped on a document placing table to undergo copying operation, and if this has resulted in a jam, a CPU stops the sheet feed motion of ADF immediately with sensing of the jam, but the body of copying machine first interrupts the exposing scan motion for the running sheet of document and then displays about jamming and its position on a display 113 in compliance with the sensing signal given. A display 112 gives a message about returning of both the preceding and next sheets of document back to the document placing table. The preceding sheet of document on the glass of the table can be taken out and fed back easily by opening an automatic document transporting device. |
