PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wire rolling guide roller excellent in abrasion resistance, defect resistance, etc., by constructing the guide with a particle-dispersed silicon nitride-based baked body in which Cr2 N particles having a high relative density and a specific average particle size are dispersed in a predetermined volume fraction. SOLUTION: This wire rolling guide roller consisting of a particle-dispersed silicon nitride-based baked body having >=99%, relative density and containing chromium nitride particles having 0.5-10μm average particle size and dispersed in 1-8% volume fraction is obtained by adding a baking assistant (e.g. powdery magnesium oxide) and a predetermined amount of powdery chromium nitride having 0.5-10μm average particle size to powdery silicon nitride, mixing and molding the mixture, then baking the molded body. The dispersed chromium-nitride particles remain in a silicon nitride baked body as hard dispersed particles after baking and have an effect to enhance abrasion resistance by enhancing hardness of the total baked body. Further, the chromium nitride particles have an effect to enhance destruction energy in destruction and have an action to enhance defect resistance by enhancing stiffness, heat and impact resistances. |
