BLACK COATING COMPOSITION AND PRODUCTION OF COLOR FILTER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black coating compsn. which has high light-screening properties and a good applicability by compounding a polymer material with a light-screening material having a plural particle size distribution. SOLUTION: A suitable light-screening material is carbon black or titanium black and has a particle size of 500nm or lower. Though not specifically limited, the lower limit of the particle size is usually 5nm. The plural distribution of the particle size is composed of a particle size distribution having a certain mean particle size and at least one particle size distribution having a mean particle size lower than that of the foregoing distribution. The ratio of the larger mean particle size to the smaller one is about 4 or higher but pref. not higher than 50, and the larger one is 50nm or higher. The amt. of the particles belonging to the smaller particle size distribution is 1-40wt.% of the total amt. of the particles. The compounding ratio by wt. of the light-screening material to the polymer material is (10/90)-(80/20).
