PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a smooth polyester fiber having excellent durability to washing, chemicals and abration by previously applying a silane-coupling agent to a polyester woven fabric and by forming a cured layer of modified organopolysiloxane on the surface of the woven fabric. SOLUTION: A polyethylene terephthalate copolymerized with sodiosulfo- isophthalic acid is spun, drawn, dipped in an aqueous dispersion of a silane coupling agent and 0.005-0.1wt.%, preferably 0.01-0.05wt.% of the silane coupling agent is applied to the fiber on the solid basis, heat-treated at 150-180 deg.C for 2-20 seconds, subsequently dipped in a treating solution containing a crosslinkable modified organopolysiloxane whereby 0.1-0.7wt.%, preferably 0.2-0.5wt.%, on the solid basis, of the organo-polysiloxane is applied and heat- treated at 140-150 deg.C for 20-30 minutes to form a cured layer of modified organopolysiloxane and the objective polyester fiber having smoothened surface is obtained. In the case where the fibers are in the cloth form, the treating agent is applied by at least 20wt.%, in case of wad, by at least 50wt.% to realize the excellent slimy touch. |
