PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially advantageously produce a nitrile compd. from alkanes as a source material at a high production yield. SOLUTION: Unsatd. nitrile is produced by the reaction of alkanes, molecular oxygen and ammonia by using an ammoxidation catalyst comprising a multiple oxide expressed by formula W1 Sba Xb Zc On . In formula, X is at least one element selected from among Fe, Ga, Zn, Co and Mn, Z is at least one element selected from among alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, Tl, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Ti, Ni, Cu, Nb, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, Ta, Re, Ir, Pt, B, Al, In, Sn, Pb, P and Bi (a), (b), (c) represent number of atoms Sb, X, Z, respectively, and when the number of W atoms is 1, (a), (b), (c) satisfy 0.01<=a<=50, 0.01<=b<=50 and 0<=c<=50, (n) is the value determined by the valences of the present elements. |
