PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject sponge, having fine bubbles, a smooth touch, a high water absorption rate and useful as a puff, etc., for makeup by adding and mixing a crystalline Glauber's salt and an assistant material with a specific viscose and then molding the resultant mixture. SOLUTION: This viscose sponge has >=20mm initial water absorption rate measured according to the Byreck method in JIS L-1069. Furthermore, the viscose sponge is obtained by adding and mixing (B) crystalline Glauber's salt, containing >=80wt.% having 0.1-1.0mm grain diameter to (A) a viscose having 8-20 ripening degree [a value of salt test (ST)], then molding the resultant mixture, coagulating and regenerating the cellulose and further using an assistant such as (C) an activator or (D) reinforcing fibers (especially a cellulosic fibers having 3-20mm fiber length). The amount of the added component B is preferably 30-50 times based on the cellulose in the component A. |
