摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound useful as e.g. an intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals or liquid crystals, by making an enzyme act an a fluorochloroacetic ester in an alcohol-contg. organic solvent to carry out an alcoholysis enantioselectively. SOLUTION: This optically active fluoroalcohol of formula II [e.g. (+)-1,1,1- trifluoro-2-octanol] useful as e.g. an intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals or functional materials such as liquid crystals is obtained in extremely high efficiency by making an enzyme act on a fluorochloroacetic ester of formula I (R is a 1-14C alkyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkoxycarbonylalkyl) (e.g. 1,1,1-trifluoro-2- octyl chloroacetate) in an organic solvent (e.g. hexane) containing an an alcohol (e.g. n-butanol) to carry out an alcoholysis enantioselectively.
