PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the degree of freedom of the shape of a transmission case and to improve assembly workability by a method wherein the transmission case and an idler cover to fix a reverse idler shaft are formed into different bodies from each other, and the idler cover is assembled from the outside of the transmission case. SOLUTION: An idler cover 45 is formed separately from a transmission case 9. A reverse idler shaft 50 at which a reverse idler gear 54 is rotatably supported is inserted in the idler cover 45 and supported thereat and fixed by a roll pin 51. The idler cover 45 is inserted in the opening part 60 of the transmission case 9, one idler gear 55 is engaged with a reverse counter gear 35, and after the other idler gear 56 is engaged with a reverse main gear 21, the idler cover 45 is fixed at the transmission case 9 by means of a bolt. This constitution enhances the degree of freedom of the shape of the transmission case and improves assembly property.
