PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rapid discrimination of type of a tire and improve reliability of discriminated result when the type of the tire is discriminated by using discrimination line disposed circumferential of a tread. SOLUTION: A tire 32 is turned by a drum 34 and a picture of its tread surface is taken by a color television camera 36. A tread discrimination line is extracted from the image by each color and the extracted discrimination line is compared with discrimination line registered data of the tire to be mounted to a vehicle body 30 to be checked. Effects to the image such as cut down of the discrimination line, stain and a stamp except the discrimination line are reduced and reliable discrimination is performed in a short time without checking a plurality of different positions of the tread surface by turning the tire 32 and taking a picture of the tread surface. |
