PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound in a good yield through a simpler and easier production process, useful as a bleaching activator, capable of enhancing a bleaching effect when used in combination with an oxygen-based bleaching agent. SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by interesterification between a compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are each a 1-4C alkyl. etc.) and an amino- alcohol of formula II (R<3> and R<4> are each a 1∼4C alkyl; Y is a 1∼8C alkylene) under a condition of gradual addition of an ester interchange catalyst, and then by quaternization of the resultant compound of formula III (X<1> is H, an alkali metal, etc.) with an alkylating agent. The compound is expressed by formula IV (X<2> is H, an alkali metal, etc.), e.g. benzene-1,4-bis(carbonyloxy-N,N, N-trimethylethane aminium)dimethyl sulfate. The method can produce this compound in a better yield than that in the case of a charge of the total quantity of the catalyst at a time.
