PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a composition having the ability to scavenge active oxygen noxious to a biological tissue. SOLUTION: This composition comprises an extract of Corchorus olitorius Linne (mulukhiya) with water and/or an organic solvent as an active ingredient and has the ability to scavenge active oxygen. The composition has the excellent ability to scavenge the active oxygen and is useful for maintaining and recovering human health. Thereby, the composition is a product, capable of expecting a wide range of uses as a raw material for cosmetics, medicines and foods and having high general-purpose properties. |
