PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise use efficiency of a buffer memory. SOLUTION: When a directive signal of a multi-color printing mode is received, a buffer memory 18 forms print buffers (storage areas) 18a-18d corresponding to a plurality of colored printing heads with an address generator. When a directive signal of a monochromatic printing mode is received, a plurality of print buffers 18e-18h corresponding to one printing head are formed. In the latter monochromatic printing, a plurality of the print buffers 18e-18h are successively exchanged to be used. |
