PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a descent traveling performance for a vehicle having an automatic transmission mounted therein. SOLUTION: A traveling resistance is detected (S1 to S7) and a presence or an absence of a request for shift-down is detected in response to the detected traveling resistance (S8). Then, even in the case the the request for shift-down is present, a shift-down operation is executed (S12) only when an intention of a driver to decrease speed is detected (S9 to S11) and a driver's request for reducing speed is present. With such an arrangement as above, since a down-shift control to which the driver's request for reducing speed is reflected can be carried out, it is possible to further improve a descent traveling performance. |
