PURPOSE: To alter visibility of a map on a vehicle's navigation display in accordance with a running condition. CONSTITUTION: In the case of displaying a vehicle's current position and a map on a color display 4 by means of image data/chrominance signal converter 13 by rendering the vehicle's current position data from a locator 2, and the map data from the map memory 3 respectively, this navigation system detects the vehicle's running condition from the vehicle's speed sensor, by which the system selects image data/chrominance signal table 14 at table selector 15 and displays a detailed map at a speed lower than a prescribed speed and a general map at the prescribed speed or higher. |
