A process for manufacturing flat products in the form of reusable labels each of which has an adhesively coated area and can easily be detached from a block of labels involves: a) drawing a substrate, especially paper, from a roll (6) and cross-cutting or feeding as a sheet via a sheet feeder (1); b) applying a solvent-free release agent to one surface of the substrate in a halftone dot application process; c) applying a solvent-free hot melt adhesive directly onto the other surface of the substrate in certain areas using a rotational screen printing process, the adhesive being applied as points or hemispheres with an increasing point size and/or density; d) placing the printed sheets in a sheet holder (5). Process equipment comprises a unwinding station (6), a dot application unit (2) for applying the release coating, a rotational screen printing printing machine (3) for applying the hot melt adhesive, a cross-cutting unit (8) or sheet feeder (1) and a sheet holder (5) for printed sheets.
