The automation process controller 1 has a housing 2 in which is located a circuit board containing the processor and associated modules. Connector strips 4,5 provide a means of connection to external elements, such as relays,sensors, indicators, etc. The housing is set onto a base 7 and a communication adapter 9 fits on to the housing. The adapter is formed with lugs 10 that latch into slots. The adapter provides an interface for connection to a field bus.
