The rotor has an axial bearing disc (6) adjacent one end face of the rotor laminations packet (2) which is provided with Al winding bars coupled to short-circuit rings at either end and enclosed by a non-magnetic protective sleeve (4). Each end of the rotor laminations packet has a protective disc (5,7) sealed relative to the rotor shaft and the protective sleeve, the protective disc adjacent the axial bearing disc made of an elastomer material and fitted between the axial bearing disc and the rotor laminations packet.
