One-cup, automatic, fresh brew coffee infusion comprises grounds sufficient for one cup being dosed into a brewing chamber or pot, which is closed. Hot water is forced through the bed of coffee grounds, which adopt a diameter D and a height H. Coffee extract is dissolved out from the grounds, and flows with the hot water through a sieve in the base of the pot, into a delivery line. The novelty is that the bed configuration has a ratio of diameter (D) to height (H) of <= 1. Hot water is passed through the bed at a pressure of 0.9-8 bar, and is introduced in constant flow, during the extraction.
