To interrupt so that surge voltage that flows into communication line by lightning, etc., cannot lead to communication equipment. The surge voltage protection apparatus consists of setting level holding part(1), phase shift part(2), polyswitch(3) and level adjustment part(4). The setting level holding part(1) holds voltage of previously set level and removes voltage over the set level in power sources and data which input through communication line(L11)(L12). The phase shift part(2) reverses the phase of power source from the setting level holding part(1). The polyswitch(3) detects and interrupts the overcurrent supply from the phase shift part(2). The level adjustment part(4) adjusts the output voltage of the polyswitch(3) to rated voltage of communication equipment and supplies to output line(L21)(L22). Thereby, it is possible to previously prevent damage to communication equipment and loss of data by interrupting high-tension surge voltage that may lead to communication line.
