<p>A water saving device (18) for use with domestic hot water systems of the noncirculating storage tank heater type uses a hydraulic motor do drive a water pump (48) to pump water from the hot water pipe (21) to a cold water pipe (22). Pumping begins when a hot water tap connected to the device (18) is turned on and the water in the hot water pipe (21) is cold. Pumping continues until a temperature sensing element (70) senses the hot water has reached the water saving device (18) and actuates a valve (65). When hot water is present at the device (18), the valve (65) permits the hot water to pass directly to the tap instead of driving the hydraulic motor (47).</p> |
