The cutting machine for providing patterned pieces of planar material including a cutting or separating-device (5), a support or mounting table (3) for the flat material (2) and an automatic control device with computer (211) for movement of the table and/or the cutting- and separating device or similar in a plane (4) of the mounting table. A device (15) is provided in the region of the mounting table with a receiving and or delivery station for automatic contactless alternation of the cutting- or separating device (8, 8a), in which the device for automatically alternating the cutting-separating device has a start-stop drive.
