摘要 Hydrocyclones (148) and separator assemblies (110) including a plurality of hydrocyclones, wherein each hydrocyclone comprises a tubular body (152) having an underflow end (154) and an overflow end (156). Each hydrocyclone has an interior defined by an axially-extending frusto-conical separating chamber (172) which extends from an inlet chamber nearer the overflow end to an underflow outlet opening at the underflow end. The body also has a rectangular tangential inlet (176) to the inlet chamber. The hydrocyclone further includes a tubular vortex-finder (178) member which fits through the overflow end of the body into a cooperating seat (206) therein. The vortex-finder member is seated in a predetermined position in which a portion thereof extends through the inlet chamber to define the axial overflow outlet from the separating chamber, said portion having a helical guide surface (184) to guide the inlet flow from the tangential inlet towards the separating chamber. In one embodiment intended for use in assemblies having stationary wall members, the exterior of the hydrocyclone body has a cylindrical portion (204) at the overflow end which connects to a frusto-conical portion which tapers toward the underflow end and terminates in a frusto conical spigot (190). A portion of the spigot is surrounded circumferentially with a cylindrical skirt (192), which terminates in radially projecting stop member (168). Preferably, the stop member is of hexagonal cross section. In another embodiment intended for use in assemblies having at least one removable wall member, the cyclone body has an exterior defined by an annular flange (162), which connects to a relatively long cylindrical portion (187) of a smaller diameter, having an annular stop member (169) projecting radially therefrom and further connecting to a cylindrical boss (193) of a smaller diameter, which connects to a frusto-conical spigot (191) which tapers toward the underflow end. The flange has a U-shaped detent (197) provided therein for accommodating the peg (215) projecting from the vortex finder, while the vortex finder snaps into the interior of the cyclone body by the snapping of a D-ring (237) molded on the vortex finder body into a groove provided in the interior wall of the flange.
