Valve operating lever for internal combustion engine

The valve operating lever has a non-ferrous metal lever and an operating roller between the lever side walls, held on an axis in the side walls by needles. There is shielding between the roller and the side walls to prevent the roller and or needles from digging into the side walls. The shielding is formed by an abrasion-resistant coating (7). This coating may be applied to the lever beforehand. It may be limited to parts of the lever surface, particularly the surfaces on which the roller (2) and needles (5) run. The coating may be applied by anodising, chrome-plating or similar process.
