The equipment includes a block (9) with a thick base (27) and an upright with through-hole (28) immediately behind a vertical slot into which a support (7) for the active optoelectronic component (6) is dropped. The axis (OZ) of the aperture (29) passes through the flanged cylindrical sleeve (13) threaded on to a coupler (11) in which the fibre (12) is terminated. The block on the fixed part of an optical bench, and the sleeve on the moving part, are aligned so that the axis is centred within the sleeve, and the coupler is positioned for optimal coupling before the three parts are bonded adhesively together.
