PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the interference by gas to be measured when nitrogen oxide is detected by a nitrogen oxide detector. SOLUTION: A nitrogen oxide detector is equipped with an ion conductor 1, the composite detection electrode 2 fixed to the ion conductor 1 and active to oxygen and NOx gas, the oxygen detection electrode 3 fixed to the ion conductor 1 and having activity to oxygen and the oxygen supply device 4 arranged in opposed relation to the composite detection electrode 2 and the oxygen detection electrode 3 and forming a detection chamber 1a between both electrodes 2, 3 to supply oxygen to the detection chamber 1a. Gas containing NOx is supplied to the detection chamber 1a and the components in the gas are oxidized by oxygen supplied to the detection chamber 1a by the oxygen supply device 4. The amt. of NOx is detected based on the difference between the output of the composite detection electrode 2 detecting oxygen and NOx and the output of the oxygen detection electrode 3 detecting oxygen. By this constitution, the interference by gas to be measured is avoided. |
