PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a VCR device tension regulator mechanism capable of preventing the positional movement of a tension regulator arm even when a reel base is moved to two positions corresponding to tape cassettes different in size, the breaking of a tension regulator band and the slackening of the tension band from the reel base even when the tension regulator arm is moved to an unloading position. SOLUTION: In a recording/reproducing device having a tension regulator mechanism for controlling the tape tension of a magnetic tape, the tension regulator mechanism rotatably supports one band end of a band 37 brought into contact with a reel base so as to apply a brake in the shaft pin 40 of a tension regulator arm 8 by a supporting member 39 and the other band end in a shaft pin 43 provided in a mechanical chassis 3 by first and second supporting members 41 and 42 and includes a length adjusting mechanism 45 for the band 37 in the first and second supporting members 41 and 42.
