Method for connecting a swayed fitting and a cable

The fitting has a sleeve (2) into which the end of the cable is positioned prior to crimping. The fitting, and the end of the cable, may be treated with a fired zinc coating followed by a dip into a eutectic alloy of zinc with 5 percent aluminium. This corrosion protection layer is not entirely damaged by the crimping process. The end fittings can be made of steel. The eutectic dipping process adds 100 to 200 microns to the thickness of the protective layer. This can be increased by successive dipping, avoiding any requirement for a subsequent protective coating.
