PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the transfer of each of different color inks to a recording paper, and reduce the applied energy and improve the printing rate of a head. SOLUTION: In a transfer thermal printer designed so that a recording paper and an ink ribbon 2 superposed over each other are caused to pass between a thermal head 3 and a platen 4 and at least, a part of different color inks is transferred to the superposed recording paper by heat from the thermal head 3, the recording paper is used which the total area of pores communicating with each other three-dimensionally on the surface of the recording paper accounts for more than 50% and less than 80% of the surface of the recording paper. Besides, the percentage of the pores with a pore diameter of 5-35μm is at least, 50% and that of the pores with a pore diameter of at least, 35μm is 5% or less. Further, the ink and the recording paper are set so that a difference between a contact angle between the ink and a standard solution and a contact angle between he recording paper and the standard solution is 20 deg. or less. |
