PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester fiber whose surface is provided with uniformly distributed weft nodes, having a moderate puffiness and a dry and soft touch, and excellent in productivity, by immersing a semi-drawn polyester filament yarn having the birefringence within a specified range in a carrier solution. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber with the surface 1 provided with uniformly distributed weft nodes 11 is obtained by immersing a semi-drawn polyester filament yarn with a birefringence of 20×10<-3> to 80×10<-3> in a carrier solution (e.g. solution of benzoic acid derivative). The weft nodes 11 have the following characteristics: (i) formed from 1/6 to the whole length of the outer periphery of the fiber cross-section perpendicular to the fiber axis X, in a pitch of 0.5-50μm in the direction of the fiber axis X; (ii) 20 counts or more per 20μm of fiber length; and (iii) not the traces as a result of caustic reduction. |
