PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable rapid and easy construction by applying a mortar layer on the border face between a plane of a concrete footing of stairs and a front face of the next higher stair, adding a mortar lump on the plane and the front face thereafter, and fixing a stair surface material thereon with press contact. SOLUTION: A surface material body A with the cross section of a hook which is manufactured at a plant in advance is formed by a stair tread 1 and a riser 2, a streak groove 3 is provided along the tip end edge of the stair tread 1, a metal non-slip streak piece 4 is buried at the border with the riser 2, and a throating groove 6 is provided reaching from one end of the streak groove 3 through the stair tread 1 to the lower end of the riser 2. Next, on a concrete footing 10 of the stairs, a mortar layer 11 to be a contact is applied at the border between a plane 12 and a front face 13 of the next higher stair.
