PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve characteristics of short bits and light resistance by incorporating one or more kinds of dyes expressed by specified formula into a recording layer. SOLUTION: A recording layer containing org. dyes, a metal reflection layer and a protective layer are successively formed on a transparent substrate to obtain an optical recording medium for 600 to 700nm wavelength. The recording layer contains one or more kinds of dyes expressed by formula I or formula II. In formulae I and II, X is a substituent comprising an electron withdrawing group which can form a conjugate with a diazo group, Y is a substituent comprising hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups or sulfonate group derivs., R<1> , R<2> are 1 to 6C alkyl groups, Z is a hydrogen or halogen atom or 1 to 3C alkyl group, and M<2+> is a bivalent ion of nickel, cobalt or copper. |
