FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method is intended to be used for modifying blast-furnace conversion cast iron designed to be remelted in iron- casting workshops when producing castings. Improved homogeneity in macrostructure and stable and improved mechanical properties of graphitized conversion cast iron are achieved by introducing ferrosilicon into liquid cast iron before and in the course of casting into ingots. Specific intake of ferrosilicon per 1 t of cast iron is determined in dependence on silicon and manganese contents in cast iron taken from equationwhere Kis specific intake of ferrosilicon per 1 t of cast iron, a is silicon content in cast iron in %, and Mn and Si, respectively, silicon and manganese contents before treatment of cast iron, %. In this case, 55-65% of ferrosilicon (based on its total amount) is introduced before casting and remaining portion (40-50%) 10-15 min before termination of casting.
