Specific intake of ferrosilicon per 1 t of cast iron is determined in dependence on silicon and manganese contents in cast iron taken from equationwhere Kis specific intake of ferrosilicon per 1 t of cast iron, a is silicon content in cast iron in %, and Mn and Si, respectively, silicon and manganese contents before treatment of cast iron, %. In this case, 55-65% of ferrosilicon (based on its total amount) is introduced before casting and remaining portion (40-50%) 10-15 min before termination of casting.
