The centrifugal axial pump comprises an inlet ring (4) in front of the impeller (1) with an inlet dia. (DE) smaller than the outer dia. of the impeller. The ring has a semi-axial flow guidance towards the impeller. The opening cross-section of the inlet ring corresponds to that of the impeller inlet. Typically the inlet ring has a shape accelerating the flow to the impeller.
