The present invention relates to a locking and coding system which comprises a closing unit (1) with an actuator (2), a coding device (3) and a source (4, 9) of pressurised air. The pressurised air used to drive the actuator is generated by human effort, said actuator being a pneumatic one connected via a duct (20) to the source. The coding device (3) includes at least one coding unit (22, 23, 24) with at least one overlapping member (29, 30, 43, 50, 51, 52), said member being capable of movement along a surface having apertures (26<1>, 45, 46, 56) which correspond to apertures (31<1>, 31<p>, 32<1>, 32<p>, 44<1>, 44<p>, 56) in said overlapping member (29, 30, 43, 50, 51, 52) during its displacement. When a correct code combination is selected, a through-canal is then formed that connects the source (4, 9) of pressurised air to the pneumatic actuator (2) of the locking unit (1).
