The building block may be used for construction of small structures especially in a garden. The blocks may have interfitting grooves and ridges at the sides and at the top and bottom. A projection (3) at the bottom may act as an inner foot and may fit into a corresponding groove (6) in the top of the block underneath it. There is a channel from top to bottom which may be plugged by rubber grommets (17). A bolt may be threaded through the channels in the blocks placed one on top of the other or side-by-side and may be fastened by nuts at the top and bottom or at the sides. The bolt may be made of several sections screwed together.
