Small animal detection, frightening and driving away method for vehicle engine compartment

The method detects the existence of the animal in the engine by radar or ultrasonic means and the vehicle horn or other alarm is activated in order to frighten the animal off. Small animals are attracted to the heat of a vehicle engine and can cause damage to wiring and other parts by gnawing. The damage may not be readily noticeable and prevention is very difficult or expensive. A solution is the installation of a detection unit which senses movement by radio or ultrasonic means and switches a relay for a predetermined period to sound the vehicle horn or some other suitable noise to drive away the offending animal.
