Flexible plastics drinking straw

The bottle or can for a cold beverage contains a straw made of plastics material, which may be used for drinking the beverage after the bottle or can has been opened. The plastics straw is flexible and may be axially compressed or bent into a V-shape to fit it into the bottle or can. Typically, the straw may be made of three portions. The bottom portion (10) is straight and comparatively rigid and has an opening at the bottom designed to allow beverage to be sucked in when the bottom of the straw is jammed against the floor of the container. The middle portion (11) consists of a number of connected spheres, giving increased flexibility in compression and bending. The top portion (12) is straight.
