PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display having light shielding films which allow the omission of stages, such as printing, and are adequate at the time of forming substrates of respective panels by selectively cutting the substrates to multiple pieces by forming the light shielding films of the regions enclosing image display parts simultaneously with the light shielding films within the image display parts. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display has display pixels arranged in a matrix form and is formed with the light shielding films on the periphery of these display pixels, i.e., the circumferences of color filters and the non-image display parts. The stage for forming the light shielding parts in the spacings between the display parts and a case which is heretofore executed by printing is omitted by forming such light shielding films. Further, the light shielding films are formed in the regions exclusive of dicing line parts 6 and therefore, the peeling of the formed light shielding films by dicing at the time of selectively cutting the substrates is prevented. |
