Detecting year 2000 date problems

Three software routines are used. The first tests that the computer's real time clock (RTC) can perform the transition to the year 2000 properly. The second installs a routine for updating the century stored by the RTC's memory when the transition to the year 2000 occurs and is used in the case where the RTC cannot itself perform the transition to the year 2000 correctly. The third scans program, source and data files on the computer to see if the involve any date formats which could potentially cause a year 2000 error. The system can operate across a network.
