Plated plastic filter header

The filtered electrical header connector (10) comprises a connector body (12) having a pin retaining portion (40) with a number of holes (28) through it, each for receiving a connector pin. A shelf is connected along one side to the pin retainer portion and extends from it. The shelf has a thickness less than the thickness of the pin retainer portion. The connector body has a metal plating (14) overlying selected portions of it. A terminal pin (28) extends through each of the holes. A chip capacitor (42), soldered to a pad (48) of metal plating overlying the shelf, is electrically connected to one of the pin terminals and to another portion of the metal plating on the connector. Each of the terminal pins has a portion surrounded by a ferrite block (30). The shelf and pin retaining portion define a recess (50) underlying the shelf and chip capacitor. A skirt (18) is connected to a second side of the shelf and extends downward from it, where the skirt, shelf and pin retaining portion define the enclosed recess that does not extend through the skirt.
