PURPOSE:To obtain the optical recording medium having excellent weatherability by using a thin layer consisting of an alloy of Al and a metal selected from specific elements of periodic table, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of a metallic reflecting layer. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has the metallic reflecting layer on a substrate. The metallic reflecting layer is formed of the alloy of at least one kind of the metal selected from the group IIb, IIIa, IVa, and Va elements of periodic table and the Al. The corrosion of the metallic reflecting layer is, therefore, substantially prevented and the degradation in the reflectivity by aging is obviated. The effect of protecting the recording layer formed together on the substrate is improved as well. The corrosion resistance of the metallic reflecting layer used for the optical medium is improved in this way, by which the deterioration of the recording layer is prevented and the optical recording medium having the excellent weatherability is obtd. |
