PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy ray-sensitive image forming compsn. and an image recording medium having high resolution and high sensitivity by using an onium borate complex as an acid producing agent having sensitivity for energy rays, and to provide an easy image forming method to fix an image by using the image forming medium. SOLUTION: This energy-ray sensitive image recording compsn. consists of an energy ray-sensitive acid producing agent, an acid compd. precursor, a dye precursor, and a sensitizer or a polymer binder. The acid producing agent is an onium borate complex which consists of onium cation and borate anion expressed by the formula below and produces acid when it is exposed to energy rays. The image recording medium and the image recording method feature that the compsn above described is used. In formula [BYm Zn ]<-> , Y is fluorine or chlorine, Z is a phenyl group having at least two electron withdrawing groups as substituents selected from fluorine, cyano groups, nitro groups and trifluoromethyl groups, (m) is an integer 0 to 3, (n) is an integer 1 to 4 and m+n=4. |
