PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a beautiful appearance by colors in a formed product while the metallic color of a matrix is made the most of by applying strike plating to the product to be colored composed of stainless steel, furthermore applying Ni of Cr plating thereto and thereafter coloring the same by electrodeposition coating. SOLUTION: A formed product is formed by a filamentary material or the like made of stainless steel. The surface of the stainless steel 2 in this formed product is applied with strike plating for making better its adhesion to form a thin adhesion layer 3. Next, the surface of this layer is applied with Ni or Cr plating to form a bright layer 4. Furthermore, on this layer, a thin colored layer 5 of about 20μis formed by electrodeposition coating. As this electrodeposition coating, anionic electrodeposition capable of increasing the kinds of colors and also thinning the film thickness is preferably adopted. In this way, a colored formed product 1 having a beautiful appearance in which the feeling of metal can be obtd. through the thin colored layer 5 and furthermore, coloring is increased by the bright layer 4 can be obtd.
