PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing powdery slaked lime which is very fine and therefore has high activity from coarser slaked lime. SOLUTION: This fine powder slaked lime is obtained by fluidizing an inactive material, for example, silica sand which has particle size within the range of 100-1,500μm and narrow particle size distribution, by using high- temperature gas to form a fluidized bed having a definite temperature within the range of 350-800 deg.C, and feeding, into the fluidized bed, slurry produced by dispersing the slaked lime having particle size of <=100μm or <=50μm into water, and subjecting the slaked-lime slurry to dehydration reaction (including drying the lime prior to the dehydration in the case of slurry).
